Toronto, January 24 2007 (Salt + Light): Salt + Light Television, Canada’s Catholic Network, is proud to launch Zoom, the first Catholic webcast updated every weekday!

Available on www.saltandlighttv.org, and hosted by Salt + Light’s young team, this online update presents the significant events of the day that touch the life of the 12 million Catholics across the country and those interested in the religious sphere.

Fully Grasp the Face of our Church in Image and Sound

The CEO of the digital television network, Father Thomas Rosica C.S.B. is pleased to launch this new, free service: “January 24th, feast of St. Francis de Sales (patron saint of the journalists) presents the perfect day to launch this service, which will allow people to follow the rhythm of the Church in image and sound. It is in response to the numerous requests that Salt + Light has received that we decided to launch Zoom online.” The 4 minute daily recap show has enjoyed tremendous success and feedback on the network since September 2005.

Updated Monday to Friday at 7pm ET, two distinct editions are available: one in English and one in French, continuing in the network’s mandate of reaching all of Canada’s Catholics.

From Your Community to the World

Everyday, the Zoom team, composed of hosts David Naglieri, Michèle Nuzzo, John Ignatowicz, Kris Dmytrenko and Matthew Harrison, reviews many topics from the life of the Church on a national and international level, examining social justice, moral and ethical questions. Zoom is also a window to all the ceremonies and events gathering Canadian Catholics. Thanks to a growing network of correspondents, Salt + Light can showcase the Canadian grassroots reality. Press releases for such events are always welcome at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

A Unique Window on our Universal Church

Through Salt +Light’s satellite feed to Vatican Television, Zoom will give you a front row seat to the events of our Universal Church, including the apostolic travels of Benedict XVI and ecumenical gatherings. The Holy Father’s English speeches from the weekly dominical Angelus and general audience can be found on Monday and Wednesday Zooms, respectively.

A New Blog

Together with the launch of Zoom online, Salt + Light will post its first blog on its website. The on-air team will contribute to it on a regular basis to share their impressions about recent film shoots, deepen the themes approached during the network’s shows and keep visitors up to date with all the new items on online and digital TV programming.

Established in 2003 as a fruit of WYD 2002, the Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation, headquartered in Toronto, is a laity-founded, charitable organization whose scope is both national and international. Salt + Light offers Catholic content through a diverse range of multi-media tools, including television production, digital television distribution and the internet.
