London, November 2, 2007 (SIGNIS): The University of California at Berkeley has become a YouTube content partner.

The university has placed on its brand new YouTube channel course lectures and other footage of special events.

Among the videos are lectures on peace and conflict studies, search engines, bioengineering, physics, chemistry, and also a lecture by Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

Berkeley is now the first University to make its lectures available to the public through YouTube.

Berkeley has been offering webcasts of courses and events online since 2001, and podcasts since 2006. It also offers video content through iTunes U on topics such as art, history, computer science and mechanical engineering.
