Goa, Jan 24, 2022: The Holy Family Communication Centre, Sancoale-Goa, conducted a three days ‘ programme on Training for Teachers on ‘Social Media Education ‘ from the 13th January, 2022 to 15th January, 2022 at Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim. 23 schools from the North and South of Goa participated. There were 44 participants. Though, some dropped at the last minute because of Covid. The main purpose of the Training programme was to train the teachers so that they could motivate the children to learn and use the means of communication in their daily learning which is the need of the hour.

The Inaugural began with a prayer dance by Ms. Vrinda, followed by a ‘Prayer Service’ “Let your Light Shine Brightly!’ by Sr. Sukuria SFN the Directress of HOFCOM. The Traditional lamp was lit by His Excellency Bishop Emeritus Alex Dias SFX, the Chief Guest, Rev. Sr. Berna Rodrigues SFN, the Superior General of the Congregation of Sisters of Holy Family of Nazareth, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Coutinho- Administrator Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Sr. Sukuria Dias SFN the Directress of the Holy communication Centre, Sancoale and the Secretary and Treasurer of Signis Western Region along with the Ms. Sanchia Fernandes (Teacher Participant). Soon after the Lighting of the Lamp the dignitaries shared their thoughts on Social Media Education. The 3 days’s programme was declared “OPEN” by His Excellency Bishop Emeritus Alex Dias SFX. After a short break, the main speakers of the day made the day more meaningful with their talks. Sr. Sukuria, SFN the Directress of HOFCOM gave the Orientation of the Programme hwerein she highlighted on Signis, the SIgnis Western Region and the Propaganda Fide and the Holy Family Communication Centre. The Day’s session then began with :

Bishop Emeritus Alex Dias, SFX, spoke on: Social Media Education. Rev. Fr. Blaise Lobo started his session with a beautiful song and then highlighted on, ‘The Art of Connecting’

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rev. Fr. Ralin De Souza spoke on “Teaching in Communication Environment’ and

Asst. Prof. Agnelo D’Souza spoke on Film Appreciation and story-telling in films.

On the second day the 14th January, 2022, the resource personnel from Rosary College Asst. Prof Tracy Almeida, Prof. Ramkrishna Reddy, Prof Leonard Soares, Prof. Mildred Lemos, Prof. Leona Dias, Prof. Rajlakxmi Metri gave inputs on Graphic Designing, audio recording using Audacity, Video recording and editing Using OSB and Openshot, Blogging and Wordpress. The purpose of the programme was to train the teachers who would motivate the children to do the same. The Labs, halls and canteen of the Rosary College was availed of for the teacher participants. The videography and photography was done by the Dominican Fathers, Fr. Joachim OP who is a member of the Signis Western Region. Goa.

The training workshop ended on the 15th January, 2022 with the valedictory function which was graced by Dr. Helic Baretto the Acting Principal Rosary College, Rev. Sr. Berna Rodrigues SFN - the Guest of honour and Rev. Fr. Jeronimo D’Silva. Rev. Prof. Simao Diniz the Chief Guest could not make it as he was sick. Certificates were distributed to all the teacher participants. While expressing the Vote of thanks the Directress of HOFCOM Rev. Sr. Sukuria Dias SFN thanked all the dignitaries, teacher participants, Heads/Managers of all the schools, Higher Secondary and the Institutes, the parish priests and the Rosary College. She thanked the Rosary College for their help, support and cooperation, especially the BCA Faculty who went out of their way to be with her throughout the programme. She also thanked the staff and non-teaching staff, the System Admins and the Genitors of Rosary College.

She also thanked the Superior General Rev. Sr. Berna SFN for her presence and also the ex-superior General Rev. Sr. Alvita Gurjao SFN for her encouragement and support, her HOFCOM Team and all the sisters of the Holy family for their prayerful support and cooperation.

The Signis National and the Screening Committee along with the Signis Western Region were also thanked profusely not forgetting the Propaganda Fide for their financial support. She also thanked Rev. Fr. Joachim OP for the videography and editing of the final video.

The three days’ Training for Teachers from 13th to 15th January, 2022, on ‘Social Media Education’ reined its curtains down at the hands of the Superior General Rev. Sr. Berna SFN who declared it ‘CLOSED’.

The programme ended with agape. Rev. Fr. Jeronimo blessed the meals and also gave the Final blessings at the end of the valedictory Day. Nourishing food and snacks were provided during the program. Sr. Sukuria SFN, Directress of HOFCOM praised God for the smooth flow of the programme.
