Ghaziabad, NCR-Delhi , Aug 6 : The National Institute of Social Communications, Research and Training (NISCORT) organized an online training programme on “Journalism: News Writing and Reporting” from 23rd to 31st July, 2020. Seven enthusiastic participants from different parts of India attended this training programme. It was a 12 hours training programme with two sessions per day using Zoom App.

The resource person Mr. Sumit Dhanraj, a Freelance Journalist and Writer from Indore, very systematically dealt with various topic related to Constructive Journalism such as News writing, reading and analyzing, composition of creative headings, reporting skills which includes 5Ws and 1H, pyramid style and inverted pyramid style, interview reporting, paragraph writing, article writing, types of communication and media, letter to the editor, fake news and Sloppy Journalism.

This programme helped all the participants to enhance their reading and writing skills during this lockdown. Sr. Sheeja Joseph SAB said, “As I recall the fruits of my past eight days of classes on News Writing and Reporting, I felt it’s quite good and I am motivated to spend quality time for reading and writing. I learnt to maintain certain rules while framing news reports. On the whole the training was good and I benefited from it.”

Sr. Merciful Nongsiej FMA mentioned, “The course was outstanding, topics were relevant and very interactive. The resource person was very systematic and motivated. With his vast knowledge and experience he motivated the participants to be creative in their thinking and writing. He created a conducive and friendly environment where each participant could approach him at any time even, after the sessions. The course as a whole challenged me to think, create and write the day’s assignments and submit on time. A special thanks to NISCORT Media College for organizing such a good and valuable programme.”

Sr. Agnes PBVM said, “The course on News writing and reporting gave me a chance to explore myself in the media industry. I used to write articles and project reports for our province. Through this course I have learned the skills and gained confidence to write for local magazines. I am grateful to NISCORT and our trainer.”

On the last day of the course, the participants expressed their gratitude to Dr. Fr. Jose Murickan and the resource person Mr. Sumit Dhanraj for organizing skill based training programmes on Print Media and Journalism. Fr. Jose Murickan, the Director of NISCORT thanked the resource person for his commitment and the participants for their active participation. All were congratulated on the successful completion of the training and were provided with the e-certificates.
