Jhabua, May 14: Under the aegis of SIGNIS and Sadbhawna Communications “Print Journalism and Writing skills Training for youngsters” was held at PRO Office, Sadbhawna Communications from 10th to 12th May, 2019. Christian youth and media persons of the Catholic diocese of Jhabua took part in the three days training programme.


The Chief Guest of the inaugural session was Mr. Sanjay Jain, District Bureau Chief of Lok Swami Newspaper. He motivated youngsters to become good journalists and asked them to equip well the skills of writing for the newspaper journalism. He shared his expertise and insights regarding journalism and various fields of journalism.

The other dignitaries during the event were Rev. Fr. Pratap Bariya (Dean of Jhabua Deanry) and Mr. Raju Damor, Freelance Photojournalist from Jhabua. They also inspired students to do daring journalism for the universal Church. Fr. Pratap welcomed youth and media persons to write for the Catholic magazine Samanvay and address the issues and goodnews of the diocese through the magazine. Mr. Raju told students that they should not only write well but also click good photographs for publishing in various newspapers and magazine.

 

 

 

 

 


Signis India members Rev. Fr. Rockey Shah (Director, Sadbhawna Comunications, Jhabua Diocese) and Prof. Sumit Dhanraj, Freelance Writer and Journalist were present throughout the three days of training programme. Fr. Rockey taught students different writing skills pertaining to print media and guided them about the requirements of the industry today. On the other hand, Prof. Sumit Dhanraj took sessions on the history of Print Media and Journalism, Journalistic need in today’s perspective, various writing skills, composition of news reports, letter to editor and articles. He also made students go through practices and exercises during the sessions.


There were important practical sessions wherein the students learnt the dynamics of drafting news reports, composing stories, writing articles and letter to the editor etc. This effort brought out their hidden talents and creativity during the short time of the training. The Print Journalism training ended with the high note wherein the students were full of enthusiasm to contribute their stories and articles to the Church magazine and secular media. They also expressed their wish to be a good journalist by becoming the voice of the voiceless.
