Sydney, July 24, 2008 (H2Onews): One million visitors, 4,500 websites downloading the player for their webpages, 19,500 references on Google, and twenty of the most important Catholic news agencies in the world collaborating on the project: these are the numbers of www.wydcrossmedia.org, the information portal created for the occasion of the World Youth Day in Sydney.

www.wydcrossmedia.org supplied a constant-stream of multimedia content in five languages, experimenting with some of the most modern means of instant communication possible, thanks to the use of cell phones and the latest technology. This experiment, the only one of its kind, had the collaboration of www.qumran2.net for the Italian zone, which supplied support to house files produced by agencies, church groups and parishes on the occasion of WYD in Sydney.

For the coordinators it was very important "to have put many agencies together (among them, also this agency Sir), to offer an ecclesial service to the youth and to Catholic media all around the world, thanks to a multimedia service in five languages. We translated the message of the Gospel and the words of the Pope."

Wydcrossmedia, among the proposals linked to World Youth Day in Sydney, was the information organ most widely diffused in various sites that are now components of the web constellation 2.0. The portal was realized and made possible thanks to the content given freely and the support offered by www.h2onews.org, and the technical support of www.lamorfalab.com.

The various news and information agencies of the Catholic world that joined the Wydcrossmedia project, providing multimedia contributions free of charge and publishing relevant banners and links to the portal or inserting the player into their webpages include: Afriradio, Catholic.net, Vatican Television Center, DonBoscoLand, H2onews, Inside the Vatican Magazine, Korazym, La Croix, Le Jour du Segneur, Misna, Movement of Focolari, One o’ Five Live, Online Pj/ San Paolo, Radio Renascença, Vatican Radio, Reuters, Salt and Light Television, Telepace, and Zenit.
